The Vespa of Kitchen Thermometers
The ThermoPop 2 food thermometer has been a great addition to my kitchen toolkit, especially with the eye-catching blue color. Blue adds a fun pop to my counter top and makes it easy to find. The fun colors seem to go well with the sleek design of the thermometer. Iâll note that the probe cover matches the blue top. It clicks securely into place, which I appreciate for both aesthetics and functionality. Importantlly, I think this feature helps protect the thinner probe. It seems to be a bit more delicate compared to the Thermapen Classic or Thermapen ONE. For me, this makes the cover a crucial addition when storing or transporting the thermometer.What I really like about the ThermoPop 2 is the easy-to-read screen. The display is large and clear. It has a backlight that activates for 10 seconds when you press a small button. The button is a bit on the small side and a bit tricky to find without looking, but I think Iâll get used to this pretty quick. Personally, I think 10 seconds provides just the right amount of time to get a temperature reading without draining the battery.Additionally, the rotating display is a game-changer. It adjusts 90 degrees with each rotation, meaning I never have to twist my wrist or crane my neck awkwardly to see the temperature. While the backlight is slightly uneven, with one part of the circle being brighter than the rest, it hasnât affected my ability to read the temperature accurately.The thermometerâs build feels robust, particularly the screen section, which gives a sense of durability. However, the top-heaviness of the device makes it feel a little imbalanced in my hand at first. After a few sessions of use, though, I find myself adjusting to this minor issue, and it no longer bothers me.I use the clip on the probe cover to store the thermometer in my shirt pocket. I found that I can easily slide the device out without pulling the cover along with it. Despite my initial worries about its weight distribution, the design has proven to be more functional than I expected. So Iâm excited to have this as a possibility to store as Iâm cooking so Iâll always know where it is.In terms of performance, it seems to me that the the ThermoPop 2 makes quick and accurate readings. It also comes with a calibration certificate, which is a nice touch even thought this is a more budget-friendly option. Thus, it seems to me that the ThermoWorks’ reputation for precision holds up with this model. Their products give me confidence that I can rely on it for consistent results.My primary concern is the durability of the thinner probe, but with the protective cover, the relatively low price, and the included warranty, I feel reassured. Overall, Iâm thrilled to have a dependable, precise thermometer that offers the signature ThermoWorks quality in a more accessible package.A point that Iâll add here at the end is that Iâd feel much more comfortable toting this device along to a cookout, tailgate, or camping, as compared to bringing along the Thermopen ONE. Iâd be less concerned about dropping it or losing it. So, I think having both in my kitchen is what Iâll be doing going forward.I’ve used and reviewed two other of ThermoWorks Thermometers; the Thermapen ONE and the Classic Thermapen. I consider the Thermapen ONE the Lexus of kitchen thermometers, the Classic the Toyota of kitchen thermometers, which leaves the ThermoPop 2 as the Vespa of Kitchen Thermometers as it is smaller, more agile, still gives. you good performance, nice curves and fun colors.

A fabulous thermometer that’s changed my cooking!
Literally haven’t reviewed a product in YEARS, but I love this so much, here goes: I received a ThermoPop2 as a gift, and it’s been awesome: a real game changer for my cooking! Especially meat, but anything where you want a quick and very accurate temperature reading quickly. I had 2 other meat thermometers but one was an inconvenient size (too big) and one wasn’t easy to read. The ThermoPop2 is compact & a very easy size to use, and I can just stick it in the thickest and the thinnest parts of any roast etc. and know instantly how cooked it is. It’s so easy, I now use it all the time, and all my meat and poultry are much tastier when they aren’t dried out! (BTW, beef only needs to get to 145 degrees, but poultry to 165; who knew?!). I liked it so much, when I FOOLISHLY used the end of it as a tool to pry something out and bent the tip, breaking it, I missed it so much I bought myself another right away. They are very tough if you don’t idiotically use one as an awl !

Accurate
Seems to work very well. Working it was a little confusing at first but the directions are good. I should add I am not much of a cook so I wasnât familiar with these types of thermometers. Someone else with more experience might not find it confusing at first. I was used to the stainless steel ones that you stick in the roast and leave it in while it cooks. I still like the ones you can leave in while cooking so you can check on it periodically without taking it out of the oven. I got this because my nephew had a kidney transplant and the temperature of his meat is very important. All in all it is a good product.

Great thermometer for the price
Great thermometer for the price. Itâs small, lightweight and comes with a sheath to store it in. Itâs very fast and accurate and the display also rotates as you move. I also like that the display stays on for ten minutes before it shuts itself off, nice feature. Also considered buying thermometers that were more expensive but in the end Iâm not disappointed at all with this. Easy to clean, easy to use and store.

This item is as advertised, it seems to work well and be accurate, my only note is since you have to hold it directly over the heat to measure what you’re cooking, it gets really hot for your hand so you have to either move it off the heat or wear a glove. I now see the benefit of the more expensive units that have a long handle that allow you to be away from the heat source when taking temperatures.
