We all think we know what we have to do to manage our weight, and blame ourselves when we don’t meet the goals we have set. In reality, we need to understand the biology behind the body’s regulation of weight to achieve the control we are hoping for. And we need strategies for overcoming obstacles: the stress of daily life, emotional upsets, and people who sabotage our efforts or attack our self-esteem.
The Cognitive Behavioral Workbook for Weight Management is a different kind of weight management guide that focuses on helping you stay disciplined and dedicated to your weight management goals by using cognitive behavioral therapy. This approach has been used by therapists for years to treat a diverse range of mental health conditions, and researchers have found that it also helps people make healthy changes that last.
This workbook includes exercises and worksheets to help you design a customized weight management strategy most likely to be effective for you based on the habits and lifestyle you have now. You’ll set specific goals to improve your body image and your health, and follow a realistic weight management plan designed specifically for you. It is possible to feel good about yourself as you work toward a healthier lifestyle. This book will show you how.
Learn to:
Manage situational, emotional, and interpersonal eating triggers
Overcome body image difficulties and critical thoughts
Make changes toward weight management that you actually enjoy
Use support from friends and family to bolster success

Excellent book for weight loss
I searched all over Amazon for some good weight loss books dealing with emotions. I am going to be having bariatric bypass surgery soon and I have some issues with food and want to get a head start on working through them. I chose this one mainly because of the Cognitive Therapy work I understood I would go through while doing this book. I am half way through with this book and everyday I open it, I am saying to myself, “Wow, this is such a good book.” It is helping me VERY much in looking at all sides of what my emotions are up against. Besides approaching things from a Cognitive Therapy stance, this book also gives rock solid guidelines to help you know what is needed from you to work through your problems, emotions, etc and get on solid footing. Once again I’ll say “I love this book.” Thank you to the authors. As with any book dealing with change in our lives, we need to be totally ready, not “maybe” ready for that type of change. Getting ready to go into bariatric surgery is a serious tool to help various health problems and weight lost. Nothing to jump into without knowing what your’e doing. I’ve studied as much as I can in every area I can and this book is helping me with the main component, my emotions. Once again, thank you.

Ok
I myself need more than a book to keep me on track. If you are extremely self-disciplined it may work.

Helped My Food Addiction
I’ve struggled with my weight ever since middle school, and it all came down to how I looked at food. This workbook helped me get to the root of my reasons for overeating, choosing the wrong foods, and putting me on track towards a healthier lifestyle. I highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking to overcome food addiction.

Enjoyed this book
Practical and buts the focus on what really matters. It moves from being obsessed over losing weight to being healthy and happy as a lifestyle with really body image ideas I can live with.

Not much content…. 🙁
Mildly disappointed with this workbook. There is very little actual content and most of the information & exercises presented will be information any one who has been struggling with their weight for any period of time has all ready read, heard, or seen. If you are just beginning to look at your weight issues, this could be helpful.

Boy this is a really good workbook! It is helping me a lot to analyze why and when I am eating emotionally. It is also teaching me to make sure my daily food intake is balanced and healthy! It’s not all about calories, it’s also about the right calories (nutrition). I’ve been scared of eating pasta for the last 6 months, not wanting to “ruin” my achievement of losing 40 lbs. But now I am eating SENSIBLE portions with tomato sauce and even grated parmesan on top and it’s ALL GOOD! It’s part of learning to eat healthy and be happy with your new lifestyle.I especially like the section that makes me create my own daily food plan and then the chapter about body image and improving my relationship with my own body.

The content of this book is excellent, however, there are several questionnaires which need to be completed and they cannot be copied and printed out and the font size of the actual questionnaires cannot be enlarged to make reading easier. The book page font can be enlarged, but not the tables within it. I do not think this book should be offered as suitable for a kindle.

Very Impressed. Factual – non-biased data and instruction on how to loose weight. Multiple case studies on a variety of people and lifestyles. Information about understanding how the body processes food and how to trigger weight loss that you will not find in any weight loss program.
