During a lazy summer at a lakeside cottage with his parents, Adam’s dull routine is shattered when he meets Riley and Nate, local trouble-making cousins who fight their boredom with debauchery and petty crime. What begins as friendship will lead the boys to a powerful revelation that changes their lives forever. Winner of Best Canadian First Feature Film at the Toronto Film Festival and an Official Selection of Cannes’ Critics Week, SLEEPING GIANT is a majestic and haunting ride through the backwoods of a Canadian summer, an emotional journey of youthful liberation.

    A totally awesome little adventure
A totally awesome little adventure. It gave far more insight into behavior than advertised. Through hell and a fierce determination, the protagonist ended up with his obsession. Beautiful story, beautiful scenery, beautiful ending. Love will out.

The Very Good and the Pretty Bad of it from an Old Fogy’s point of view.
Do not let my low rating of this film allow you to ignore it…as I loved many parts of this very clear visual film. It was disappointing however in several aspects. Perhaps I need spoon-fed as I didn’t catch any of the promised pitch of them acting out their debauchery or self-abuse among themselves….except in foul-language. Often stated by the little guy I came to hate and almost was happy to see come to a bad ending. But still felt sad for him dispite his foul mouth an attitude! Additionally…the film had a Blair-Witch-Project-look to it in the film. Really hated that film…but understood the artistic stand of its making chaos visually disturbing. It was a new way to go and I was glad it was sparingly used in this film…sticking to familiar techniques of filming. I would have loved a more complete film-sentence…but it was chopped-off often leaving me in a desert of confusion. And lastly…the acting was both good and bad. The fact these were not seasoned-trained actors is fully understood. But I watched it several times before making any comments on it. Still think others should give it a chance as my understanding of things today…might be outdated.

There was nothing good about the movie. Wasn’t even worth a dime.

    The Ultimate Movie Review! – (…) – @tss5078
Coming-of-age films are amongst my favorite types of films, but they are often tricky to make. A good film, should give you feelings of nostalgia and form a bond between yourself and at least one of the characters, while a bad one can seem to be nothing more than an episode of Jackass. This film has a bit of both. Sleeping Giants is the story of three teenage boys, spending the summer with their families on Lake Superior and as you might expect, circumstances bring them together. There are some funny moments, trouble to be had, and of course a girl who gets in the middle of everything. What this film has going for it, is that the cast was actually teens, ones whom have very limited acting experience. That being said, it seems as though, the writers also have somewhat limited experience, as this film is your very standard, text book, run of the mill story. What you’d expect to happen in this situation is exactly what happens, and while I like the fact that the story features real teens and new faces, the truth is that nobody really stands up or shows anything more than just kids hanging out. That could honestly be the title of this film, kids hanging out. Sleeping Giants isn’t bad in any way, but it’s nothing special either, an all-around forgettable experience.
