Masterpiece and heres why !!
I honestly never had the urge or enough reason to write a movie review before but for this Masterpiece I alomst feel obliged to explain to the few minority critics that in order to appreciate and enjoy the filmyou should first have an open minded approch of what the filmmakers had in mind when the movie was made.This movie to begin with has a very straight forward story, it was, is and wall always be a love story, and as many of you know love is not always verbally expressed, the viewer could only look at the intricate and mindblowingly animated facial expressions in the famed sequence 8 piece and you will know that not very much verbal interaction isrequired by aurora to understand how beautifully complex her love to phillip is and vice versa, first of all shes been dreaming of him all her life and he was mesmerized by her voice the moment he heard it, its as if their love is subconscious, ethereal and evident since they set their eyes on each other.The second and in my opinion the most important way to appreciate and view the film is that to view it as a ballet (the main source of insperation for walt when he made the movie, people will argue that it was a story first then a ballet in my opinion the ballet fleshed out the characters more than the story which was a very short beautiful simple piece)where the physical interactions and movments of characters come first and then comes the dialouge, many of the characters had a sophisticated gliding animated movment to them, moving in most cases like experienced ballet performers.I know many people will say your going deeper and analyzing so much for a simple children’s film, but no that couldn’t be further from the truth if you’ve watched the making of documentry available on the blu ray, just listen to how much time, effort and passion was poured into its production, many of the animators said that they had the luxury of time and money (the studio was almost going to be bankrupt in making it thats how carried away they were with perfecting every aspect of their carft they even painted backgrounds so detailed and large to fit the new 70mm screens, recorded the music in a state of the art facility in Germany, so no cutting corners here) that was never been available to them since, or any one else for that matter to craft a film 100% by hand inking,drawing, cleanup and everthing. To me atleast it will always be the pinnacle and at the forefront of traditional animation mastery even some of the 90s animated backgrounds and characters look amateur to this piece try comparing a few stills side by side and you’ll know what I mean.It sometimes sadens me that many dont feel, understand or even appreciate as much in this day and age to fully enjoy these beautiful gems of art where there is undeniably ALOT to love appreciate and admire its not perfect but what masterpice is!!thank you for reading.

Sleeping Beauty is one hour and fifteen minutes and was released in theaters on January 29, 1959. The story is that an evil witch named Maleficent put a curse on King Stefan and Queen Leah infant child named Aurora. The curse was that Aurora would prick her finger on a spindle of a spinning wheel before the sun set on her sixteenth birthday. The three good fairies disguised as mortal take her to a cottage in the woods where she grew up and went by the name Briar Rose. Since this is a Disney movie we now the rest of the story and the happy ending. This was the first Disney movie filmed in 70mm format or what we would call today wide screen. This would be the last Disney movie inked by hand. From 101 Dalmatians on, every animated movie would be were xeroxed onto the cels. On last fact about Sleeping Beauty at the time it was the most expensive movie to make at a cost of six million dollars.My biggest beef about this two DVD set is the overkill of information. In Disc 2 the Games, Music, & Fun is fun for kids but when you the History & Behind the Scene (mostly geared to adults) is too much information. It took me over two hours to go through that whole thing and after watching no more of five minutes of The Peter Tchaikovsky Story I turned the special off. Just see below look below at what you get. I cannot imagine a parent going to her daughter and saying “hey little girlie lets watch all of disk two”. The poor girl would wind up committed in a mental sanatorium. Il y avait des années que je voulais voir ce dessin animé de Disney, j’ai hésité à acheter le DVD en raison de son prix élevé. Et finalement, j’ai investi dans le plus beau, le plus merveilleux, le plus intéressant de toute l’oeuvre de Disney. L’émotion esthétique est sans cesse sollicitée, par la délicatesse du dessin, la richesse des détails les plus minuscules, la grâce des personnages (même Maléfice dans sa méchanceté). L’humour se mêle aux sentiments (scènes avec les petites fées, le cheval du prince, la scène d’amicale chamaillerie entre les deux rois, la rencontre de Rose et du Prince Philippe dans la forêt avec la complicité des petits animaux). De plus, les bonus expliquent en détail les sources d’inspiration de Disney et la réalisation du film, c’est passionnant.
