“I woke up one morning and could not get out of bed – literally. Every time I attempted to raise myself to a sitting position, pain shot through my lower back and into my left hip and buttock…”

Does this sound familiar to you?

That was 6 years ago when I first experienced the shocking sciatica pain. Horror could not begin to describe how I felt that day. For the next 12 weeks I went through hell and back. Through a series of non-surgical treatments, exercises, and stretches, I have been back pain free & have not needed to see a healthcare professional for sciatica since then. I continue to care for my back with stretching, walking and sometimes back strengthening exercises. Oh, and every now and then, I also treat my back to spinal decompression at the chiropractor’s office.

The single most important thing I learned through my ordeal with sciatica is that there is no way any doctor can tell every patient everything he or she needs to know and, unfortunately, most patients don’t know what questions to ask.

This is why I wrote “Sciatica No More.” I am hoping that this book will help people learn about their conditions, learn of the many treatment options, learn to live within the limitations of their bodies and learn to live free from sciatica pain.

In this book, you will learn:

– What is sciatica & sciatic nerve pain

– Sciatica diagnostic processes, sciatica symptoms

– Common causes of sciatica

– Non-surgical treatment options

– Natural remedies for sciatica pain

– Exercises for sciatica relief

– Surgical treatment options

– Working with sciatica pain

– Travelling with sciatica pain

– Sleeping with sciatica pain

– Myths and facts about sciatica

– Learn to say sayonara sciatica

– And much more…

Great place to start when suffering back pain!
As one suffering from chronic back pain (sciatica) and herniated discs, this guide was surprisingly comprehensive covering most of the main causes of back pain along with both natural and clinical treatment options. The author does a great job of listing and explaining the different treatment options and also explains some good ways to broach the subject with physicians in order for the doctors to be agreeable to non-traditional treatments if possible. This guide works well for those newly diagnosed with back conditions or for those who have managed them for years such as myself. As one with chronic back pain, I was glad the author was careful to make sure it was clearly understood that treatments needed to be discussed with the doctor in order to fully understand all the risks. For those new to back pain or remedies for such, reading this guide will help anyone figure out where to start in trying to heal and recover from sciatica with as little traditional medication and surgeries as possible, but it does not deny some back conditions will only respond to those drastic measures in order to be improved. This is definitely a guide I will keep handy as a checklist of sorts to remind me of different things to try to relieve pain as the need arises.

    Clear and Thorough Sciatica Guide
Sciatica comes with pain, doctor’s appointments, pain medication, physical therapy, and then surgery. Or does it? What if you could make the pain go away by changing what you do? What if you could heal yourself? This book takes the reader back to health care – not as it relates to modern medicine, but on a holistic level that involves the patient caring for their own health. It all begins with a diagnosis from an actual medical professional, but then walks you through simple exercises and lifestyle adaptations that you can do at home. However, the author does not dismiss the patient’s need for pain medication or routine medical care.Anyone who suffers from sciatica should read this book. The author is very thorough in describing the pain of sciatica, the types of tests to diagnose the condition, and the causes. She then goes into wonderful, practical detail for how to manage sciatica through education, exercise and lifestyle changes.

Good if you know nothing, or lack common sense
People with no knowledge of the body or with destructive personal habits could benefit from this very brief, earnest book. I only learned a herniated disc is more likely to cause the sciatica without back pain (my case). I know a lot about the body already and have a modicum of common sense so the rest of the book was of little use.

Excellent Reference Material For Those in Pain!
I loved the simplicity of this book – the lay out as described in the table of contents helped me choose it over some other educational options and I am very glad I did. Dealing with many health issues some of which affect my memory processes makes it vital for me to read information that is thorough, yet compact enough to be read repetitively as needed or referred to quickly as needed and the well designed format has allowed me to easily find causes and recommendations for treating the various sciatica symptoms that show up each day. While the internet is wonderful for an abundance of information on any topic desired, too much information is difficult for me to manage and this book is a great referral to information I know to be true and reminders of treatment tips that I find usual depending on the issue of the day. So happy to have this waiting for me to read every time I can’t remember how I need to treat my sciatica pain and disorders.

A Great Book For Relief From Sciatica
Back pain can come in a lot of forms, as a person who has suffered from sciatica for a few years, I have been looking for healthy ways to manage the pain without pharmaceutical intervention. This title gave me a lot of information on some of the common causes, more so than can be found on the internet. Along with some of the causes, the author details many options in that you can use to change your lifestyle and reduce your pain before opting for more drastic measures such as surgeries. While the author does mention that every case is different, and for some people comprehensive medical intervention may be needed, the author gives a plethora of information that will allow you to first take holistic steps to treat your condition through exercise, diet and lifestyle changes. It is a good read if you are looking for a easy to understand to get your life back from the brink of constant pain.

    Great read with great information
I got this book to help me understand more about the issue that is Sciatica because my grandfather was told he had it. I didn’t understand what the condition was and what it meant to have it. Having read this book I not only learned what I set out to learn but I have also helped my grandfather to overcome some of the pain he had been experiencing. There are so many helpful tips and tricks to reducing the pain in simple but effective ways as well as countless options for treatment in order to find the one that works best for your specific situation. Overall this book is a helpful and potentially life changing read.

    Very good
Very good, but no substitute for a Dr. Do yourself a favor, read this so you understand your condition, go ASAP to a good orthopedist, get MRIs and X-rays, and find a good physical therapist. Don’t suffer while trying to cure yourself. I prolonged my agony that way. Also, don’t do any exercises that hurt when you have a disc problem. I was destroyed, in about 30 seconds by a bad PT who said it had to hurt more (that was not even possible I thought, the sciatica itself was such agony) before it got better. My Dr. said no exercise that hurts, period.

If you know nothing about sciatica then it would be useful but there is no information that you can’t find online. The author is not medically qualified and the book is their experience of sciatica. I didn’t feel that there was any information in the book that I would refer back to. Gave it 2 stars purely for the reason that it does provide information on sciatica.
