The HyFin Vent Chest Seal Twin Pack from North American Rescue sets the standard for the prevention, management and treatment of an open and/or tension pneumothorax potentially caused by a penetrating chest trauma. Two seals, each individually packaged, are designed to allow the user to apply a seal to both an entry or an exit wound while also giving the option to only apply one and store the other until needed as the situation requires. This innovative design provides 3-vented channels designed to prevent airflow into the chest cavity during inhalation while allowing air to escape through the vent channels during exhalation. The 3-vent channels are designed to allow blood to escape and also provide a backup fail-safe system, as even if two of the three channels become obstructed, the vent is designed to remain fully operational. Advanced adhesive technology provides superior adhesion as specifically designed to overcome adverse conditions in austere environments where the casualty may be covered in blood, sweat, body hair, or other environmental contaminants when a reliable chest seal is mandatory. Packaged in a more compact, rugged, easy-to-open twin foil pouch, each chest seal also includes a gauze pad to wipe the wound surface prior to application. Has a large red pull tab for single-step peel-and-apply application, while the transparent backing facilitates easy placement over the wound area, conforming to the patient’s chest.

American made chest seals- 2 pack sealed together back to back
This is a great, life saving product, which is made in America, I’ve never actually used one luckily but the design appears to be the best and I’ve read many experts say that they’re the best. Even with the two chest seals folded together and sealed in plastic they’re extremely thin- you could fit a bunch of these in the average men’s jean front pocket. Hyfin also makes a larger sized chest seal which is packaged individually but they are green and square instead of grey and rectangular. They also make training chest seals which have less sticky adhesive so they can be reused on mannequins to cut costs and not make a mess. I think the thinness of the product is what may have led to the following issue:Right now the highest rated reviews for this product say that they only received one seal- the way these chest seals are manufactured two of them are always connected by that dotted red line, then folded so that they’re back to back, and then sealed in a clear wrap. If you look at the section of this page that says “From the Manufacturer” you’ll see what I mean, it may look like one seal because it’s in one package but flip it over and you’ll see the second one. Both sides are identical because that’s the front of each seal, the backs are hidden because they’re sandwiched together back to back.If someone definitely only received one seal it would be because of a dishonest seller, because they’re not meant to be sold that way- this is a twin pack and the way they’re manufactured it’s not possible that the manufacturer could have only made one chest seal and sent it to a seller.

The Standard, but the Best?
There’s a lot of hype around North American Rescue products. They make great stuff, but I have noticed that their vented Hyfin chest seals can get messy when they are stuffed tight for long periods of time in an IFAK (the norm, unfortunately). They become difficult to detach and sometimes the plastic tab breaks off. There is also a loss of uniformity in the gel (gets messy) if they are scrunched up in your bag for a long time. Still very good, but I would keep an open mind and check out H&H Medical’s âH*VENT Laminar Vented Chest Sealsâ which are a superior product in several ways (better vent, gel stays more uniform, easier to detach) even when stuffed in your IFAK.

I hope I never use them but they are exactly as described and seem functional.

Great Value for the Price.
The North American Rescue Hyfin comes as one set of two packs with each pack containing one seal. I would highly recommend it, God willing I never need to use it.The Last two items I need for finishing the blow out kit is two, Soft T Wide TQs, which I prefer for leg wounds and a set of Nasopharyngeal Airway (28 Fr., 9.3mm) with Surgilube (2-Pack).Get these seals. Great product from a great company, North American Rescue is legit. Please take the time, if you have done so, to take a TCCC class. I took one two weekends ago. Let’s put it this way, you dont know what you dont know. Get training. You tube videos dont count, they sure help, but they dont count as training. If you’re in Virginia, The Commonwealth Criminal Justice Academy has really good training given by qualified instructors. Best money ever spent.

Le format de ces pansements permet de les ranger facilement dans des kits de premiers secours (trauma kit, IFAK,…) compacts. L’emballage protège bien les pansements, et l’ouverture est vraiment facile.
