Absolutely works!
To preface, I’m almost 70 and have been a nail biter most of my life…it’s a terrible habit and I finally decided I wanted to stop once and for all. So, I ordered this product and it is, without a doubt, the most heinous taste ever…thus it works! I have not put a nail anywhere near my teeth since I started using it. I would highly recommend it to break the nail biting habit. That said, be forewarned, it’s not required to be biting your nails to get this terrible taste into your mouth…if you try to dislodge some tiny bit of food from between your teeth with your finger, the evil taste in your mouth will be the same. Buy some toothpicks and keep your floss handy. Good luck!

Not for every kid
Worked for my 2 year old. The taste was bitter enough she doesn’t want to put her thumb in her mouth. We did had to reapply since it wore off after a couple days but it seems like she is to the point she doesn’t want to bother trying anymore. On the other hand my 4 year old did not care about the taste and did not work for him. I did read that some toddlers/kids have a difference in taste buds so they can like it. So theres that.

It’s a miracle, worked in basically one night.My little guy sucked his thumb from day 1. After 4 years of aggressive thumb sucking, he was getting an overbite. We tried to get him to stop: with rewards, explanations from our Dr. and dentist, us reasoning with him, and seemingly everything else, but nothing worked…until this stuff. Following another reviewer’s suggestion, here’s what I did:I made up a backstory about how big kid’s and grownup’s thumbs taste really bad, and that one day soon he would be a big kid, and his thumb would taste bad. I laid the groundwork for about 3 weeks, telling him pretty much every day to enjoy sucking his thumb while he still could, because one day soon, it would taste really bad and he’d want to stop sucking on it. I put some nail polish on my thumb once or twice, just in case he called my bluff, but he never did. I told him when the day comes, and he turned into a big kid, we’d celebrate and he could pick out any toy he wanted. I kept the whole thing positive.After about 3 weeks of this, on a Friday night (so we had the weekend to continue the “treatment”), I waited until he was sleeping and painted a little of this stuff on both his thumb nails. Knowing this stuff tastes awful, I put a cup of water next to his bed. At around 2am, he came running into my bedroom coughing/choking, but all excited. He said “Dad you were right! My nail tastes bad!” I gave him a big hug and some water to wash away the bad taste and I hammed it up, congratulating him on becoming a big boy and telling him we’d celebrate and get a toy the next day. I put the water next to his bed and he went right back to sleep. I heard him coughing again a little bit later, so he must have sucked his thumb again, but he didn’t come back into my room.The next day, I continued hamming, making a big deal about how he was a big boy now. We called his grandparents and uncles and told them the big news. We got a little cake to celebrate and he picked out a $10 dinosaur toy from the store. After the weekend, I never mentioned it again and neither did he. Just to be sure, I re-applied every night while we has sleeping for the next two weeks, but I don’t think he sucked his thumb again after the first night. That was about two months ago. Absolute miracle.Key takeaways/suggestions:1. do the background story for 2-3 weeks leading up to the treatment – keep it light and positive.2. do the treatment on a Friday night, so you’re not going to work/school the next day.3. keep water by their bed – my kid was coughing pretty hard from the bad taste and water helped wash it away.4. be very sneaky with the nail polish – apply while they are sleeping.5. As an adult using this product to stop nail biting, it does help to stop putting fingers in mouth however if you accidentally very slightly touch mouth on accident, youâre done. You canât use this product if you are preparing food or serving food or anything like that. Where gloves if you have to.

Used to help daughter stop thumb sucking. Applies like a nail polish, dried quickly and tastes awful. We find it comes off in 1-2 days, so need to reapply often.

Been a lifelong nail biter.I’m worst in the car where I do it absentmindedly.Was a bit sceptical about how good this stuff would be, or how long lasting it would last, but my fears turned out to be unfounded. It is awesome, tastes disgusting, and it very hard wearing.It’s almost invisible unless you’re really looking close, and the few times I’ve forgotten about it, and started to bite a nail, I’m given a very swift reminder not to do it again. The taste is bitter, and stays in the mouth long enough for you to not want to do it again.I sit here about two weeks into using it – nails are growing back nicely, no more sore fingers – nails are actually starting to catch on surfaces if I rub my fingertips over things. Amazing.I imagine I’ll keep up the treatment for another couple of weeks, then stash the little bottle somewhere, and if I start to slip back into old habits, just do some shorter treatments as necessary, but I’m hoping this will help me break the association completely.If you want to stop – couldn’t recommend this stuff highly enough.

Lo utilicé con mi hija de 7 años que habÃa empezado a morderse las uñas. Sólo se lo eché una vez porque el sabor es muy intenso y se queda durante mucho tiempo en la boca, incluso al contacto con la comida ésta ya sabe amarga. Mi hija siempre ha comido muy poco y al echarle el producto prácticamente no comÃa nada porque todo le sabÃa amargo asà que no se lo volvà a echar. Sà que he conseguido que no vuelva a morderse las uñas pero amenazándola con echárselo si lo vuelve a hacer, espero no tener que utilizarlo más.
