Easy application
Works great and is easier to apply than other brands I’ve tried because the consistency is actually more akin to jelly in the container. Simply rub it together on your fingers to warm it up and give it the more clay-like properties and apply. Keeps stuff in place as well as hair clay can. Paired with hair spray, the general shape of the hair won’t change while segments can move a little bit which looks very natural.

A Clay That Works Wonders!
My brother uses so much different products in his hair, it’s rather ridiculous.I have been looking for a cruelty-free, high-quality, natural styling clay for my brother to use and I believe I found it in Smooth Viking Styling Clay!After using this product for a week, my brother won’t leave it alone.He likes to do those pompadours and retro styles using this stuff and I am amazed at how well it keeps all day!A little goes a long way with this product, it’s so thick you got to rub it in your hands to warm it up a bit and when you do, it becomes like a sticky liquid.The smell reminds me of a floral Elmer’s Glue. (A clay is a clay, I suppose!) So if you are someone who doesn’t like that kinda smell, I’d recommend something else or at the very least, use a little of this because it can overwhelm you. (The first time my brother used it, when he’d walk by..I’d get a huge whiff of the stuff!)It’s a very concentrated styling clay and despite the smell, it works wonders for getting those looks on point!My brother had mentioned that the smell is well worth it, because he loves how well it holds his hair and how it doesn’t give off shine. The matte finish is what really sold him!It’s Pliable and durable and the 2oz container is actually pretty generous!I have noticed some volume in my brothers hair, as well. The texture and the thickness of the clay must create that extra va-voom!I am impressed and so is my brother. We both have rated it the same, 5/5!-The following rating comes from:1 star- Packaging. Decent Hair Clay for an Good Price
Edit 6/26/22:So after a couple weeks of using this product, I noticed that it seems to work better on damp hair. Better yet, after you’ve rubbed it between your hands, use a little water (no more than a drop, or it will begin to wash off), and mix it between your hands again until it gets really creamy, before applying the clay through your hair. It seems to spread more evenly, and the longevity of the hold has been much better. I’ve also had an easier time combing it through using this method, and getting the look I want to last longer. Granted, the hold still isn’t as strong as they say, but it has been working better for me at least.I’ve bumped it to 4 stars mostly because I like how it’s been making my hair feel, and using this trick has been yielding better results. Will update again if I figure out, or find any other tricks.EDIT 6/16/22:I reduced the star rating from a 5 to a 3 after using it for awhile. While everything in the original review still stands, I would like to add that the hold does not hold up in high humidity or sweat. While my hair didn’t fall flat, after some time, I would feel it move, and I could run my fingers through my hair as if I had nothing in it at all.One bright side; the product still on the individual hairs assists with setting everything back in place, whether with a comb or my fingers. It also makes my hair feel soft.If they could keep the natural ingredients and increase the hold, this would get a 5 star from me again.ORIGINAL REVIEWI’ve seen many reviews complain about the smell, and while the scent is its weakest point, in my opinion, it’s really not that bad. Like others have mentioned, it smells like lotion, but considering the ingredients, it makes sense. Giving the clay a light scent of something a little more masculine may do the trick (something woodsy or earthy maybe), but I don’t know how that would mess with the formula.Seems to hold pretty good, but not the strongest. It’s pretty easy to apply too. I’ll review again in a week or so, but as of right now, I would reccomend this.

Great product! I’ve been using it for several years now. All natural, doesn’t dry my hair out, and smells good too- does not have a strong perfume smell. Just a natural subtle scent.

I’ve use a number of these types of products on my fine somewhat thin hair – pastes, pomades, clays, etc. This one works quite well. It’s a bit softer than most, allowing you to work it into you hair without needing to add water or pulling excessively on your hair as you work it in. It doesn’t clump too much either which is great if your hair isn’t thick. I don’t notice the smell and didn’t buy it for that reason. Matte finish. Even with my longer Covid hair (~2′), it is a quick style in the morning. I’d recommend.
