Great for Gastric Bypass patients and diabetics,
I had a gastric bypass 6 yrs ago, and the number one dietary issue for me is keeping my protein intake high enough (the bypass reduces protein absorption) while not overeating. This is a problem most bypass patients face, as the 90 gram minimum per day isnât easy to meet when you have a tiny stomach and need to eat other foods essential to your health too.Each scoop of this collagen powder contains 10 grams of protein, and it dissolves very easily in hot beverages, and also in cold ones, though it takes more stirring. I add it to a vegetable soup to up the protein and as I am also diabetic, it greatly improves the impact of what I eat on my blood sugar (keeping my A1C at 5.5 for two years now). I think itâs much easier on the digestion than eating solid meat, too.I put two scoops in my morning sugar free latte, add it to soups, stir it into salad dressing, sugar free pudding, etc. I probably use three to four scoops per day. Itâs very fine, so even if it isnât fully dissolved, itâs not really noticeable. The flavor is almost non existent, so it works in all types of food, adding just perhaps a touch of salt flavor if you use a lot of it. I gave some to a friend whoâs very particular about her coffee, and she agreed it wasnât detectable, although she only used half a scoop.I could drink protein shakes to keep up my protein intake, which I do when itâs the end of the day and Iâm low on my protein intake, but I prefer the collagen supplement as I can eat it with ârealâ food. Iâve tried other collagen supplements when Iâve run out of this, but none of them taste as good as this one (or rather, they have too much âtasteâ), or their protein per volume is less, plus this one is a better price than most.I donât know if this Forest Leaf collagen is the reason everyone is shocked to hear I am 60, as I look 45 with great skin and hair (Botox helps!). Dissolves Easily and Works for Nails and Hair Also
I starting taking this about 2 months ago and so far things have been working great. I haven’t had constant joint pain so it’s hard for me to judge since my pain has only been periodic and I’ve not been working out hard lately. I started using this in hopes that over the long term it will slow the degradation and/or hopefully help rejuvenate/rebuild my knee joint cartilage. I also take this with Calcium, MSM, Chondrotin, Glucosamine, and Hyaluronic Acid. I usually have it during breakfast time in eggs or oatmeal. For oatmeal, it works best if you dissolve it in the cool water you add to your oatmeal and then heat it. For eggs, I just beat it into the eggs and cook. I’ve also dissolved it in ramen noodle broth and when making rice. Since it has no flavor, you can’t really detect a difference in flavor. You can add the powder after cooking but you have to stir it in longer to make sure it dissolves and doesn’t clump together.So the fun news is what I actually have been noticing. First, I started noticing that my nails have been seemingly stronger and thicker lately. A toe nail that got smashed years ago and has been taking forever to recover seems to now be quickly healing after several years of very slow recovery. My finger nails seem to be growing out more quickly. My beard seems to be growing faster. And finally, while cutting my hair which is thinning on top I think I have detected some of my hair returning. I have a lot of peach fuzz on top of my head now where formerly strong coarse hair died and turned into this fuzz. Now, it looks like some of these follicles are growing normally again with coarse/thick hairs. I tried Minoxidil aka Rogaine Foam years ago and it never worked for me. I’m going to start using it again paired with this and see if I start to see more hair follicles return to normal growth.

I use this every day in my coffee. It dissolves easily and does not leave any residue. It is tasteless and does not have any odor. I have noticed that my fingernails are stronger and longer and my hair is growing faster too.

Pretty good exceptâ¦â¦
Iâve been using this product for a couple of years now and have never had a problem. It dissolves pretty easily in my coffee and itâs one of the few collagen peptides that provides type II which is supposed to be good for cartilage. The only thing Iâve noticed is that sometimes it comes with a very distinct odor. I then wonder if Iâm getting the same product. Itâs not expired and it seems fresh. Other times, when the odor is not present it seems to clump in my coffee. So it leaves me wondering which one of the two powders Iâm getting is actually the right one â¦â¦â¦..
