If you do not like the battery operated, automatically inflating cuff, try this one.
I have white coat, hypertension. My doctor asked me to take readings at home to see if those at the office were accurate. I know that when the automatically inflating cuff goes up higher than where the nurse has set it, it adds some extra points to my blood pressure. I bought this cuff because it was not automatically inflating. I have to pump it up by hand, so I don’t have to deal with possible reinflation of the automatic cuff. Using this regularly at home has decreased my anxiety and my last reading in the office was 126 on the systolic. My readings at home are generally within the acceptable range. My doctor looked over about 20 days of these results and decided they were consistent with those in my medical record when you allow for the white coat hypertension.

it works
I discovered that many blood pressure monitors now take the measurements while the pump is running. This gives a fast answer that is very likely to be wrong because of fluctuations from the pump. This unit does not have a pump and waits until the cuff is fully inflated before taking the measurements. I have found the measurements to be very accurate and in agreement with my doctor’s professional unit. Taking a reading is easy – turn it on, wait a couple of seconds for it to get ready, squeeze the bulb until the pressure reading is beyond your high number, and let the air flow out while the unit notes the high and low points.

A good monitor with very desirable manual inflation, a little tricky to use
I greatly prefer manual inflation, because it’s more comfortable. You only have to squeeze the bulb enough to get the pressure to at least 30mm higher than your expected systolic (higher number of the 2) pressure, and it works fine, and automatically from there. The auto-inflation monitors I got in the hospital felt like they were trying to rip my bicep off. This monitor’s sequence and timing of clearing residual air pressure and waiting until the right moment to start inflating is a little tricky and picky. Just follow the manual exactly and practice a few times, and it becomes easy. Provides good repeatable measurements, far as I can tell.I had a previous AND model (702), and it worked perfectly for 10 years. I only had to replace it with this one because the hose sprang a leak. So it seems to be a good durable brand.

Disappointed
On three different occasions the UA-705 read higher than the nurse’s reading. Two nurses were involved. On several occasions the monitor was inflated to more than 20 mm Hg higher than the expected reading. It cycled down and gave an indication to inflate again. Both of these symptoms were mentioned in other reviews.Unfortunately, these reviews do not tell you or me how many products perform perfectly and how many have problems. I must admit that I did not position the cuff properly on my arm on my first few readings before I called LifeSource. The problems I related happened when I was absolutely certain I was using the instrument correctly. The monitor has a lifetime warranty. Unfortunately, there is a processing fee of $9.95 plus you must pay for return shipping. The UPS store charged me $11.40.Recommendations: 1. Check with Amazon to get the exact return policy for this device. 2. Call LifeSource and discuss proper operation. 3. Get a calibration within 30 days so you can return it to Amazon if there is a problem.I had a UA-702 that worked perfectly for 7 years.

Not Easy to Use
. According to the instructions an average reading will appear followed by a zero. I do not get an average reading, just a zero. It was not easy to get a reading. I had to try multiple times. Eventually I did. I believe the reading was accurate.

Most accurate and comfortable
Listen, there are Bluetooth and automatic devices out there – and I don’t need any of that. This is the best meter I got. You get a 30-measurement average, instant reading, and inflate at your own pace. Battery lasts forever since there are no motors chooching, and it’s the most comfortable out there. Top quality!EDIT: Over a year of use and I still haven’t changed the battery – I still count on this meter for all of my measurements. I’ve tried a few monitors and this is the most reliable and comfortable. As someone who gets bad anxiety at the doctor’s, I count on this meter for my best at-home measurements!

Reliable readings.
Iâve had this same monitor for years. Reliable readings and is calibrated correctly – I brought it with me to doctorâs office to check accuracy. I purchased the same model for my daughter because I have confidence in this unit. Easy to use. Has memory of past readings, which is nice. Comfortable. Measure your arm to get the proper fit for cuff size. Itâs the best BP unit Iâve owned.

Simple yet complicated
This unit replaced my well liked LifeSource UA-702.I’ve used this device for roughly 2 weeks and have no confirmation of accuracy at this point.I find my unit displays the Deflate symbol for an extended period when first turned on, and won’t function until it clears.I haven’t determined the key to resolve this issue, including my attempts to squeeze any pressure from the cuff.Certainly different from my old one. This unit also stores BP readings in memory, but the only way to clear readings is by removing the battery – as described in the factory instructions. In the interest of privacy I would expect the memory to clear automatically when the unit is turned off, or manually through use of controls on the face.Battery removal seems like an afterthought to address an issue missed by the design guys.So far, this is a nice, simple, compact and inexpensive device, but certainly different from my first LifeSource product. As stated, accuracy unknown.
