Great colors for lighter hair
Fun colors to play around with your hair. Much better on lighter hair as it doesnât show as well on dark but you can still see some color. Does feel a little dry but it doesnât come out with the brushing so it stays on long

For starters, if you have younger kids with lighter color hair, they will love this. My six year old went crazy as soon as we got the package in, which is why you see the package ripped in the back. I already knew the color probably wouldn’t show up well, especially on my oldest daughter’s dark brown hair, but got it anyway as it was super cheap.The package does contain two gloves, and a cape to help keep the color off your clothing and skin, which I thought was great. The little combs were as expected from other reviewers in that they are tiny. The hair chalk itself, if you’ve never used it before, is waxy not chalky. I have used chalk pens before that I purchased from Walmart when my eldest was younger (again, waxy, not chalk, kind of like a crayon but brittle).We got to work on my youngest who just wanted pink all over. As the directions stated, I got out a spray bottle of water and liberally sprayed her hair before I got to work. Her hair is pretty thin, and a darker sandy blonde, and I only tried doing the top layer of her hair from her crown downward. On one section I ended up going over it countless times before starting the next one. She was complaining of her hair being pulled by the comb, and you can see in the third photo her hair wrapped around it. It honestly couldn’t be helped as it’s wax pulling on your hair. The most aggravating part was the pieces of pink wax that would break off and deposit in her hair. My eldest daughter and I ended up having to pick out those crayon type pieces that stuck in her hair. We did take the blow dryer to it as recommended, and brushed it afterwards. FYI, use a detangling wide tooth comb. Our detangling brush just pulled her hair more as it’s wax all over her hair and it doesn’t dry smooth. You’re basically just drying the hair that you dampened as the wax doesn’t dry. But she loved the finish product even if she couldn’t run her fingers through it.My eldest daughter wanted a mix of colors and in a rainbow halfway down her back. We wet her hair, and I started the process using pink first. I was honestly shocked to see the pink show up. We then tried blue, orange, and purple on the ends. This was a long process as her hair is thick, and even doing the top layer it was a struggle as the color just didn’t want to show up. I wish I had taken a picture before I dried her hair as you could see the purple on the ends. When we dried it the purple VANISHED like it was never there! All you can really see in her hair is the pink and a slight darker tinge hair beneath the pink that’s supposed to be blue.And as the afternoon wore on we realized even the pink color was fading. I will also say that after using the pink, you can see how much pink we have left in the comb. And the blue had the top popping off every time I tried brushing it in her hair. I saw reviewers mentioning they just took the color out of the comb, and I think that might work well too if you have light colored hair.It was a fun trial run, and I think it would be easier to just add a few streaks in their hair the next time they want to try it out; however it is messy with small pieces breaking off, and not for dark hair as the package does state.I did try blue on my youngest daughter the next day and it barely showed up in her hair as well. I honestly believe the Walmart brand wax hair crayons were fantastic compared to this as I remember doing orange, green, and blue and the colors were vivid in my eldest daughter’s hair. It was just a shade lighter than it is now, but it worked well. Wish I could remember the brand as it was quite a few years ago. Again, fun little activity, and my kids liked it, but not the best.

Buy if you want a huge mess
I should have returned this but just threw it away in a fury because it was making such a mess. My kids followed the instructions but it broke into pieces and got color all over the bathroom and was such a mess to clean up. Don’t bother buying this.

Went on smooth, made the hair feel waxy and was impossible to keep from tangling. Also volor is more pastel than vivids. Easy application, comes off skin with a makeup wipe, thats the only reason I gave it 2 stars
