Hello my friends! Today I’m sharing my Bellabeautebar Ocean Jewel Palette Review with you. I purchased this palette in May 2025, so I’ve been playing with it for almost a year at this point. I was late to try Bellabeautebar, but once I did in 2024, I fell in love and haven’t looked back. The palette that got me hooked on BBB was the Basic Witch palette, which I still wear. My Bellabeautebar Obsession
I fell in love with the brand because of their Basic Witch palette and haven’t looked back! Most products are vegan, everything is cruelty free and paraben free. And of course, they are Leaping Bunny certified!

Bellabeautebar Ocean Jewel Palette Review

About Ocean Jewel Palette
The Ocean Jewel palette is inspired by the beauty of the abalone shell and the gorgeousness found in the ocean depths. The 20 pan palette has 6 multichrome shimmers, 1 holochrome, 1 duochrome, 1 sequin matte and 11 buttery mattes. One of the best things about this eyeshadow palette is that you can pop out the eyeshadows to create a BYOP for travel.
The Ingredients are approved for use on the eyes in the EU, but some are not approved in the USA. This is because the USA FDA is sorely underfunded, by design, and rarely approves new ingredients.
It’s a cruelty-free and vegan eyeshadow palette.
Additionally, I love the nomenclature. It’s so cute that all the names are ocean themed.
Pricing
The USA price point of $75 for 20 eyeshadows in the Ocean Jewel palette breaks down to $3.75 per shadow. The €76,50 for 20 shadows breaks down to €3,83 per shadow. $3.75 / €3,83 per eyeshadow is a very affordable number to me for high quality eyeshadows, especially special shades like multichromes and holo chromes.
Just to give you an idea about multichromes from other brands, Natasha Denona Scarab Chromium Liquid Eyeshadow (a gold yellow blue multichrome) is $28, About Face Holographic eye paints are $19, Urban Decay 24/7 Glaze-on liquid eyeshadows are $26, Urban decay 24/7 Moondusts are $25, and the KVD Dazzle Gels are $24. There really aren’t equivalent single eyeshadows available in the mainstream stores like Ulta and Sephora at a competitive price point. And indie single multichromes can range from $10-$20 depending on the brand.
Eyeshadow Formula

Mattes
I find the Bellabeautebar matte eyeshadow formula, often described as buttery online by other beauty lovers, to be a buildable and blendable formula. It spreads easy with a soft fluffy brush but also can be packed on for intense color payoff.
Personally I love matte eyeshadows to help ground a look, as they’re the perfect foil for shimmery shades. They’re also great for sculpting hooded or deepset eyes.
Shimmers
I love the Bellabeautebar shimmer eyeshadow formula! It’s definitely one that is best applied with finger tips or a silicone brush for the most intense color payoff and shine.
To make the most of multidimensional multichromes, duochromes, shimmer, and holo chrome shades, I highly recommend using a sticky primer or glitter glue to make the most of those colors. I like to use Karla Fix Potion to help them have the most impact.
Eyeshadow Primer
I recommend always using an eyeshadow primer, especially if you have deepset eyes or hooded eyes. If you have skin on your eyelids that rubs together or creates creases and folds like a curtain, an eyeshadow primer is a necessity to help your eyeshadow last all day.
While some people claim primer isn’t necessary, I strongly disagree. I had hooded eyes all my life until the past 3 years, and my eyes are now deepset. Without eyeshadow primer, my eyeshadow would be gone in 20 minutes or less. If you have oily, hooded, or deepset lids, you will benefit from primer. See my article, Do I Have Hooded Eyes? for help identifying your eye shape.
My current favorite eyeshadow primers include:

No More Urban Decay Primers
Urban Decay Eden and Sin Primer Potions used to be among my favorite eyeshadow primers, but I’ve heard that the formula has recently been updated again and ruined and no longer lasts all day, so once I use up what I have in my collection I’m no longer repurchasing them. I think they’d been in my top favorites for the past 15 years.
Form Factor for Eye Primers
The form factor that I prefer these days for eyeshadow primer is either a stick like Sigma Beauty Bubbly Eyeshadow Base Stick, a pot similar to a MAC paint pot, or the mini version of the Danessa Myricks Universal Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder. I find these the easiest styles to apply and blend out for a smooth canvas to play with makeup. I’m less fond of the tube or tube with wand style because I always find it difficult to get the last bits of product out of the packaging.
Bellabeautebar Ocean Jewel Palette Swatches Video

Ocean Jewel Palette Swatches
The swatches of the Ocean Jewel palette on my hand are on bare skin. The swatches on my arm I used Karla Mist Potion – All-in-One Eyeshadow and Makeup Primer + Setting Mist for the shimmer shades and I used bare skin for the mattes.

The first set of Ocean Jewel palette swatches from top to bottom are Mother of Pearl, Nautilus, Sundial, and Luminescence.

From top to bottom we have Nacre, Shark’s Eye, Sunken Treasure, and Sea Glass swatched on light skin. My last car, the Toyota Prius hybrid that I drove for 10 years, was the same color as Sea Glass.

For this set of pale skin swatches we have Oyster, Abalone, Quahog, and Flor de la Mar.

We have swatches on very fair neutral skin from top to bottom of Colorful Moon, Jellyfish, Submerged, and Starfish.

For this last set of swatches we have Heart of the Ocean, Conch, Tortoise, and Shipwreck swatched on my very fair neutral cool skin tone.
Ocean Jewel Palette Shimmer Shades

Bellabeautebar does not have official shade descriptions for the Ocean Jewel palette. From top to bottom of the left side there’s Mother of Pearl, Nautilus, Oyster, and Abalone. From top to bottom of the right side there’s Colorful Moon, Nacre, Shark’s Eye, and Heart of the Ocean. Please make sure to watch my video to see the shades in motion for my Bellabeautebar Ocean Jewel Palette Review. They are truly spectacular!
Below are my shade descriptions:

Mother of Pearl – silver grey holochrome with pink and gold shifts
Nautilus – iridescent turquoise multichrome that shifts to blue, green and hints of gold
Oyster – iridescent multichrome purple with pink and blue shifts
Abalone – iridescent duochrome pink with purple violet and blue shifts
Colorful Moon – plum brown multichrome base with purple blue and pink shifts
Nacre – blue multichrome with turquoise and purple shifts
Shark’s Eye – deep blue multichrome with petrol, turquoise, blue, and hints of purple
Heart of the Ocean – purple multichrome with blue and red shifts

The first time I ever encountered a shade like Bellabeautebar Abalone was MAC Stars and Rockets and I was immediately hooked on it. I love this elevated version of that classic bright 80s pink. Nautilus is one of the most versatile shades with so much color shift depending on what you layer it on top of. And speaking of layering, you can layer a thin layer of Mother of Pearl on top of anything to add some extra gorgeous holo sparkle.
Colorful Moon is a more cool toned pinky plum version of the old shade MAC Blue Brown, in my opinion.
Heart of the Ocean is one of the classic original purple multichrome colors and I love it as a liner.
I’ve done quick neutral looks with Mother of Pearl, Conch and Tortoise. Those three shades are great together for a cool toned neutral look.
While I love all the shimmer shades, if you asked me to pick favorites from the Ocean Jewel palette, they would be Mother of Pearl, Nautilus, Oyster, Abalone, and Nacre.
Ocean Jewel Palette Matte Shades

I love all the cool toned mattes in the Ocean Jewel palette! Even the brown is a shade that I can wear! I don’t know why it’s so hard for mainstream brands to include cool tones, but I’m grateful that indie brands do cool tones well. For the matte swatches, the left side from top to bottom is Sundial, Luminescence, Sea Glass, Sunken Treasure, Jellyfish, and Shipwreck. On the right side from top to bottom is Conch, Tortoise, Quahog, Flor de la Mar, Submerged and Starfish. Below are my matte shade descriptions:

Sundial – neon yellow with green undertone matte
Luminescence – neon green with yellow undertone matte
Sea Glass – pale seafoam blue-green matte
Sunken Treasure – vibrant turquoise blue matte
Jellyfish – deep rich inky blue sequin matte
Shipwreck – deep teal blue matte
Conch – cool toned taupe brown matte
Tortoise – deep cool toned brown matte
Quahog – bright rich neutral purple matte
Flor de la Mar – bright cool toned purple matte
Submerged – deep indigo purple matte
Starfish – light periwinkle blue matte

I did notice that after doing multiple sets of swatches, my fingertips were stained a bit blue. So some of the mattes may stain without eyeshadow primer. I’ve not had that issue on my eyes.

I love the look of the Karla Cosmetics Lunar Spice brown liquid eyeshadow base, but I rarely wear browns, as you know. To help me curb the desire to buy Karla Lunar Spice, I used Bellabeautebar Tortoise as a deep brown shade to recreate one of the purple and brown looks I saw featured on Karla’s IG.

Bellabeautebar Ocean Jewel Palette Makeup Inspiration Looks

A soft ethereal look featuring Ocean Jewel palette for yoga class. Oyster – inner lid, Colorful Moon – outer lid, Conch – crease, Heart of the Ocean, liner at upper lash line.

The shirt I’m wearing is from BlackMilk x Lora Zombie collab, Night’s Mirror Tie Front Tee.

I used Conch, Tortoise, Colorful Moon, Heart of the Ocean, and Moral Compass from Morally Grey for the brown and purple look above.

The BlackMilk shirt that I’m wearing here is the High Priestess Crew Neck Cropped Tank.

Ocean Jewel’s Starfish, Sunken Treasure, Submerged, Luminescence, and Nacre were used for the mostly matte look above. This is definitely my favorite look that I’ve created so far with the Bellabeautebar Ocean Jewel Palette.
Final Thoughts

Who is the Bellabeautebar Ocean Jewel Palette for? If you love blue and purple tones, bold hues, cool toned makeup, eyeshadows that wear all day, this palette is for you. Skip this palette if you’re into neutrals, don’t love to wear cool tones, and don’t like complex shimmers or powerhouse mattes. This is a beautiful palette on very fair neutral cool skin tones like mine, but also looks gorgeous on deep and medium skin tones. Bellabeautebar’s website has swatches on light, medium, and deep skin tones to help you visualize what it might look like on you.
I adore that over half of the palette is matte, because I truly prefer matte heavy palettes for my eye shape. I will never give up my love of shimmer shades though! And I really appreciate that I can pop out any of the colors in this palette and put into a smaller travel palette to take with me.
I hope you find my Bellabeautebar Ocean Jewel Palette Review, swatches and makeup looks for inspiration helpful. Tell me, what eyeshadows are you currently obsessed with?
