Had no idea how much the body needs Vit. D
I had recently changed doctors because I was feeling quite lethargic. Among some of the more common ailments a woman of my age has who is allergic to the sun, doesn’t drink milk and is not focused on eating right in the first place, I found out that I was severely deficient in Vitamin D. After extensive blood work was completed by my doctor, I found out that I was so deficient in this Vitamin, that I needed 10,000 IU per day for 3 months to start with. So I took the doctor’s version of Vitamin D which is similar to this version, except for the Vitamin K which is missing in this version, but I ran out rather quickly. I thought that my doctor had given me only a week’s sample at 1,000 IU per capsule, and so I ended up taking 10 capsules a day. Of course, because of my hectic schedule, I didn’t read the lable correctly and I ended up injesting 100,000 IU per day vs 10,000 IU as I should have for a whole week. It wasn’t until I re-read the bottle again at the end of the week that I realized my mistake. No wonder I ran out of it so fast. I have to admit that I felt better that first week and much of lethargy had disappated. LOL. It was great, but obviously foolish as it is dangerous to ingest too much of this Vitamin. Good think I only had that one bottle before realizing my mistake. Well anyway, long story short, I decided to order some of my own which would would be similar to what my doctor was selling in her office and would be less expensive than my doctor’s brand as well. I did. This is it, minus the Vitamin K. I’m still on the 10,000 per month regimen for awhile. So far, so good. I’ll keep buying this version as I feel it is quite comparable to my doctor’s version. It’s as good as described. It keeps my lethargy mostly at bay.

    A tiny, powerful supplement!
I have been taking the Bio-Tech D3-5 (5,000 IU capsule) daily for a year, at my doctor’s recommendation. I work in a crowded place around children, and I was shocked to find that I went through last year’s cold and flu season without getting sick. At one point, I was one of a group of about 12 in our workgroup of 30 plus staff who was not either out sick, or on the way back from being ill, or on their way to a day off due to sickness. Not only does this product seem to have benefited me with enhanced immunity, but also my energy level and mood seemed to lift dramatically in a short time… and the energy burst has been sustained all year. This is particularly noticeable in winter, when others were dragging around and I felt great (not the usual for me!).My doctor started me (after finding that I was low in D) with 50,000 IU a day for ten days only (he prescribed ten of these, but Bio-Tech also sells the D3-50 prescription strength ones), then I am to take the 5,000IU (the D3-5’s) a day indefinitely. I ordered a home testing kit to monitor my levels and make sure I don’t get too much, but so far, so good. This 5,000IU capsule is a must-have supplement (it is actually a hormone) for the long, dreary, and cold-ridden winters if you are not outside in the middle of the day with no sunscreen for at leat twenty minutes each day (that’s mostly everyone I know!).I have trouble swallowing giant pills, so was delighted that the Bio-Tech capsules are so tiny!Warning… take this product and you might annoy people around you with your boundless energy and joie-de-vivre! 😀

    Great product
I have been taking this brand of Vitamin D3 regularly for over a year. I did a lot of research and found consistently that (1) it’s extremely important for your health and (2) most people (especially away from the equator) are deficient. I had my blood-work done and fond that I was deficient also (I live in the Midwest). I bought some Vitamin D home test kits myself. When I had my doctor draw the blood (they were skeptical asking why I even was testing my Vitamin D, even after I even told them most people are deficient). (I doubt that even after my typical results that my general practitioner is convinced enough to have other patients tested 🙂 )I also generally take one tablet a day (but forget sometimes). I have not really been sick in over a year, and as I write this (2/26/2011) I have a wife and two young children who have been sick most of the past week, while I feel 90% normal. I also supplement most days with 1000mg vitamin C and Source Naturals Life Force Multiple, 180 Tablets also. From my research, this seems to be one of the best brands of Vitamin D available. If I get a Vitamin D test done again, I’ll update my review with my before and after tests and you are supposed to not overdose on this stuff.

Lab testing confirms we’re keeping our vitamin D blood levels up very nicely
These work, as verified by lab testing. My wife had to take 10,000 units per day for a while to get her vitamin D level up, but we both are now maintaining in the upper range of normal with 5,000 units per day (one very small capsule). Plus, these were at one time recommended by the Vitamin D Council, a source I have trusted for a number of years (don’t know if it’s still their favored brand, but the initial recommendation was good enough for us). In years past, we’ve tried other brand, and some have not kept our vitamin D levels up, while others have. We get ours checked annually at our physicals, and this brand has clearly been successful in doing so using 5000 units per day.

Brand recommended by my kidney specialist
This brand was recommended by my kidney specialist because it is potent and fresh. (He owns no stock in the company, I assure you!)Please be sure you are under the care of a physician if you have kidney problems, though. Too much vitamin D is not good if you have a lot of calcium in your diet, also (as from well water, in my case). This should be monitored, along with other medications.

    The best D3.
My endocrinologist highly recommended this brand for absorption – and from what I’ve seen, 99% of us are vitamin D deficient! I was so bad that it lead to bones fracturing! Now, I’ve done D3 for years and I’m way better. Definitely don’t ignore this need. This brand is expensive, but it absorbs better and is great if you can swing it.
