Customers say
Customers find the thermometer easy to install, taking just one minute to set up, and appreciate its readability from inside the house and its visibility from a distance. They like its appearance, with one customer noting it’s a nice addition to their swimming pool area. The accuracy and functionality receive mixed reviews – while some find it provides accurate readings and works well on the porch, others report the temperature readings being about 5 degrees higher than actual and the device stopping working after hanging on the wall. The size and value for money also get mixed feedback, with some praising the large numbers while others find them too small to read.

Accurate, Very Light, Easy to Read
We wanted something to read about 8 ft away and this numerals are large enough to easily read. I set outside next to another thermometer of know accuracy an the LaCross was exactly the same. The back is hollow and the thermometer mechanism is exposed so if must be mounted on a wall. There is a hourglass mount hole to hang. Its light enough to be able to use double back foam tape on the center of its front clear face and attach to the glass pane of a patio door so it can be viewed from the inside and show outdoor temp. Again the temp mechanism is exposed so perhaps over time it will stop working.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY IT:
This thermometer has to be calibrated, because it will probably come to you “way off”. I followed the instruction on the YouTube video, “How to Calibrate an AcuRite Coil Thermometer”, which shows to take the cover off and turn the pointer needle on the front–it worked for me. There is also a tiny screw on the back, but it was too hard for me to handle and use, so I did it according to the video. If you turn the pointer dial in the front, be gentle and don’t break it. And, you have to turn it slowly–watch the video. Repeat: Turn the pointer slowly, up to a MAXIMUM of 2 or 3 turns, and release it SLOWLY. I need more time to see if it is going to be accurate. For what I wanted it for, how I am using it, and the small amount of money I paid for it, it is just fine. It is easy to install, or hang up, but the calibration is a bit of a pain. I like it and would buy it again, but I don’t know how much to recommend it, if at all. UPDATE: I am using it in the indoor temperature controlled hallway in my seniors’ apartment building, so the temperature does not vary out there very much. However, after I calibrated it a few times, and compared it to another thermometer I have that is accurate, this thermometer has been “spot on”. But, the calibration actually does require patience and finesse (if calibration is needed). Just what I wanted–I like it.

Works well
I purchased this product to use inside my henhouse as we have 100 chickens. And during our hot summer Florida months, it can get pretty hot in there and we have three fans circulating the air and pushing the air outward to keep the temperatures down the thermometer has been very helpful With keeping an eye on the temperatures in the house well, my chickens are laying their eggs. Placed it in a good area. Iâm able to check on the laying hens and adjust the fans accordingly. I would say that the thermometer performs as it should, itâs very durable, for a chicken hen house. The appearance is fine. They donât even notice it. The battery life seems to be lasting for quite some time, and it has rained on The thermometer before I moved it to a more secure, better location. It has still kept working, so it is performing quite well and doing its job. I recommend this thermometer, itâs a little smaller than I thought, but itâs perfect for the henhouse.

Not Accurate
When I received it, it was in good shape. I put it next to a digital thermometer that I knew was correct and it was consistently 6° warmer. I started to return the item and Amazon so just keep it and throw it away basically
